Yr 8 Leavers Social

For the past few weeks we have been doing a program called Stepz. Stepz has been run by Katie. Katie has been showing us all of the dances that we will be doing at the end of year social. The social is being organized by Ms White and the school council organizing committee.I am part of the organizing committee for the event. This means that I get to work with a group of other councilors to choose the theme, decorate the hall and get to make invitations. The theme for this years social is "Bright Lights". This doesn't mean that you have to come dressed as a light. The dress code is black dress pants or dark jeans and a shirt that has a collar for boys. Girls have to dress appropriately and the dress can't be to short. At this event there is a formal meal to share. some classes have to bring food and some have to bring money. We all hope that the social will be a success. I'm sure that there will be some great stories taken away from the social and many memories to be shared.

Seminar

I have just presented my seminar and I think it went alright. I could of screamed when the NEW projector wasn't going to work. Everything headed up hill from there though and being able to tell tales of being on the job helped. I had the class going "ooouuugghhhh YUCK!!" and then having them laughing.My website was average but all the fustration of making that website showed. I was happy with what I did.

NZCT Aims Games

Sense-Lang Typing Test

It has been a while since I have tested myself on sense-Lang I have been practicing though and I didn't do to badly.I think that my number of mistakes really sums up how great my touch typing is.My success rate isn't good at all.I think I should test my self more often so that I can improve my typing.

PINTV

We have now got a school TV station called PINTV. Mark and I made the logo for the station (shown above).We enjoyed making this logo because you had to think about the school and try and put that into the logo.We think that we have done a good job and we get to see it on tv every morning.

Zone Softball

Early in term 1 I trialled and made the softball team.We had an awesome day and we had a lot of fun we would of had a more successful day had there been more gear.I had umpired a game for the year 7s and also played all my games.We had a hard time going up against people that could bat and field but I didn't mind it.I enjoyed my peers learning the sport that I play every weekend it was really funny how they were like ''wow that guy pitchers fast as''.When it was actually really slow.

Learning Plan

A short while back I did my year 8 Learning plan I found that doing my learning plan on the computer was a little different to how I had done it before.My learning plan asks me for my goals and then asks how I will achieve my goals.You have to answer for how will I achieve this goal at home then at school.

Me Project

My me project is done with the background of shells thats because I love the beach.On my me project is Passions, People and places.I had a month to work on my me project and I'm proud of my work and think Ive done a good job.

Book Bag

I have done my book bag on The Thirty Nine Clues The Black Circle.First We made a paper bag in class then we had to pick a book to base it on.we had to say who it was written by, who our favorite and least favorite characters are, the author, the illustrator if there is one, the main characters and a plot summary.It took about 2 weeks before all the book bags were in.I shared Alesha's book bag at year 8 assembly.

Typing results

Today Ive done another touch typing test.Ive done better than my previous time and my goal is to get to 8 words per minute sometime next term.

Council

I am a councillor for room 44.Shannon and I are in room 23 as the councilors of our class and our buddy class.We go to meetings to inform Mr Sweeny about changes that the school wants.we do this to try and make the school better and being the voice of the people who would other wise not be heard.I know that there is some things that we have to do next term and I cant wait to be helping people with what they want next year.

Hara Mura

We have had three students from Hara Mura Japan in our class for the past few days. Soon Ill be saying good bye to some of my own class mates as the head to Japan.That will be an awesome trip for the people who are going.I wish them the best of luck and hope they have fun there.

Multiple Intelligences Test

Today Ive done a test telling me where my strengths and weakness's are.One of my weakness's are nature I think that's probably correct.It also told me I was music smart and people smart.I kind of agree with that.I think that it was a great thing to know that the way you answer the questions is how it gets its answers and looking around the class I would agree with most peoples results.

sense-Lang Typing Test

Today I did my first touch typing test and got a very low score.I will continue using this program and my goal at this stage is to get to ten words per minute.I'm finding touch typing difficult but the program dance mat typing is a big help.

Mathletics

I now have my own Mathletics account and have been using this awesome website at school and at home. The school was kind enough to give every student in our class a Mathletics account. It would normally cost $99.00 if I wasn't enrolled through a school. It is very helpful for you to be learning your math and we have even had our class in the top 50 New Zealand classes.I now have 5 gold bars and 2 certificates.At the begging of math time if your on Mathletics you spend ten minutes on live. Live is where you verse students from all over the globe and try to beat them at basic facts problems. Then you go on to activities and try to set a new self record.My best activitie is propities of shapes and objects.
